Becky West is a Mankato, Minnesota and Lake Wales, Florida artist known for her beautifully detailed drawings and oil paintings. From the time she was a child making enthusiastic “artistic experiments” at the kitchen table, she has been learning to see the world the way an artist does—full of light, texture, and quiet beauty.

About Becky
Becky West has been creating art since childhood—sometimes with memorable results. One early decoupage project permanently attached newspaper to the family kitchen table, beginning a long tradition of artistic exploration at home.
Encouraged by her mother Muriel, an artist herself, Becky learned early to truly see the world around her. She remembers the moment it clicked: while drawing a house with a strip of grass and a strip of sky, her mother pointed out that the sky actually meets the ground at the horizon. “That was the moment the light went on,” Becky says. “I began to see like an artist.”
Today Becky works in several media but returns again and again to drawing and oil painting. Her realistic pencil drawings are so detailed that viewers sometimes mistake them for photographs—some taking more than a hundred hours to complete.
Becky’s goal has always been simple: to add a little beauty to her corner of the world.
She and her husband Tim live in Mankato in the summer and Lake Wales in the winter and enjoy time with their two sons and ten grandchildren. Becky is available for commission work.
